Questions & Answers

Questions parents ask us

Straightforward answers to what families most commonly want to know.

At what age should a child first visit the dentist?+

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends a child's first dental visit by their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing — whichever comes first. Early visits help identify problems before they develop and build familiarity with the dental environment.

How do I know if my child has a tooth cavity?+

Signs of a cavity include visible dark spots or holes on teeth, complaints of toothache — especially with sweet, hot or cold food — sensitivity when biting, or the child avoiding chewing on one side. Many cavities have no visible signs; a dental X-ray confirms what cannot be seen.

Is dental sedation safe for children?+

Conscious sedation is safe when administered by a certified practitioner with the right clinical equipment. Dr. Bhuvanesswari is a certified sleep dentistry practitioner with a dedicated Conscious Sedation Unit at the clinic. The child remains breathing independently throughout and is continuously monitored.

How often should children visit the dentist?+

Every six months is the standard recommendation for most children. Children at higher risk of decay — due to diet, family history or previous cavities — may benefit from more frequent visits. Your dentist will advise the right schedule for your child.

What can I do if my child is scared of the dentist?+

Dental anxiety in children is common and manageable. At Care & Cure, we use gentle, age-appropriate communication and never rush or force treatment. For children with significant anxiety, conscious sedation allows all necessary treatment to be completed calmly and comfortably.

Does Care & Cure treat adult patients too?+

Yes. Care & Cure is a family clinic. While paediatric dentistry is the primary speciality, adults are also seen. Services for adults include wisdom tooth removal, surgical extractions, complete dentures, aligners, fixed orthodontic treatment and fixed partial dentures (bridges).

What are the clinic timings?+

Care & Cure Dental Centre is open Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM–1:00 PM and 4:30 PM–8:00 PM. On Sundays, appointments are available on request.
